Mikey Mosher intersects materials and techniques which are not normally combined; he is using carpentry, CNC routing, sewing, found materials, symbolic objects, and textiles to reference multiple historical styles of art making which are rarely ever seen together: Op Art, assemblage, quilting, fabric arts, and abstraction. Taking advantage of contemporary access to all kinds of materials and historical knowledge, Mosher is synthesizing compositions which would have been improbable in earlier eras.
Mikey Mosher is an interdisciplinary artist from Massachusetts, currently based in Chicago. He holds an MFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Much of Mikey’s work is influenced by his academic background in Religious Studies and revolves around the act of collecting and arranging objects, images, and materials in combination with design, woodworking, and digital fabrication.
